While airplanes are piloted by highly trained professionals and subject to rigorous air traffic control regulations, drivers, in contrast, are sometimes careless or even under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, flights are normally shorter than car trips because the average speed of an aircraft is much higher than that of cars. The extended car trips make it harder for drivers to remain alert, and this lack of focus can lead to devastating consequences on the road.
