2023-2024申請季美國TOP20大學補充文書要求更新

隨著8月Common App正式開放,23-24申請季拉開帷幕,美國各大學校也紛紛更新了各自的補充文書(shu) 要求。

隨著6月美國最高法院宣判廢除大學招生的平權法案,也使得這個(ge) 申請季注定與(yu) 以往不同。不少大學的補充文書(shu) 都有針對性更新。比如聖母大學今年最新的補充文書(shu) 要求並不是去年的一道必答+四選一,而是三選二+五選三的模式。又或是類似聖路易斯華盛頓大學延續往年的簡短題目,讓學生在寫(xie) 作中盡可能地回到自身。

本期,我們(men) 為(wei) 大家匯總了23-24申請季大部分Top20大學的最新補充文書(shu) 要求,本文對部分大學的文書(shu) 要求進行了整理匯總,希望能夠給奮戰申請季的大家一些參考和幫助。

01康奈爾大學 

康奈爾大學補充文書(shu) 題目根據不同的學院有不同要求。在本科階段,學生可選擇農(nong) 業(ye) 與(yu) 生命科學學院,建築、藝術與(yu) 規劃學院,文理學院,公共政策學院,商學院,工程學院,人類生態學院,勞資關(guan) 係學院就讀。

相較於(yu) 去年,康奈爾大學今年新增了一道所有申請者必須完成的文書(shu) 題目。

所有申請者必答題: In the aftermath of the U.S. Civil War, Ezra Cornell wrote, "I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study." For over 150 years, Cornell University has remained deeply committed to Ezra’s vision. Explain how your life experiences will help inform your contributions to a learning community devoted to “... any person … any study.” We encourage you to think broadly about your life experiences, including how local (e.g., family, school, neighborhood) or global communities you’ve been part of have helped shape your perspective.

Why architecture (B.Arch), art (BFA), or urban and regional studies (URS)? B. Arch applicants, please provide an example of how a creative project or passion sparks your motivation to pursue a 5-year professional degree program. BFA applicants may want to to consider how they could integrate a range of interests and available resources at Cornell into a coherent art practice. URS students may want to emphasize their enthusiasm and depth of interest in the study of urban and regional issues.

It may be helpful to concentrate on one or two things that you are most excited about.

Essay 2: Choose either Question A and Question B. (250-word limit)

Question A: Describe an engineering problem that impacts your local community. This could be your school, neighborhood, town, region, or a group you identify with. Describe one to three things you might do as an engineer to solve the problem.

02弗吉尼亞(ya) 大學  23-24申請季,弗吉尼亞(ya) 大學的補充文書(shu) 要求有了較大的改變,由10選2變成了固定1篇文書(shu) ,字數要求也從(cong) 50詞變成了300詞(申請護理學院的學生還需要寫(xie) 一篇250詞以內(nei) 的補充文書(shu) )。新的文書(shu) 題目著重於(yu) 申請者的背景和經曆,鼓勵申請者在文書(shu) 中將其個(ge) 人故事表達出來。

03北卡羅來納大學教堂山分校

作為(wei) 平權法案事件的另一位當事學校,UNC今年放棄了去年補充文書(shu) 要求中關(guan) 於(yu) 多元化的問題,將所有題目全部更新。校董會(hui) 規定學校在審核申請文書(shu) 或其他材料的過程中,不得作出任何基於(yu) 種族偏好的招聘或錄取決(jue) 定;如果要考慮申請者的個(ge) 人經曆,任何判斷或決(jue) 定應當完全基於(yu) 其個(ge) 人經曆而非基於(yu) 種族。

Short answer prompts: We’d like to know how you’d contribute to the Carolina community and ask that you respond to each prompt in up to 250 words.

04哥倫(lun) 比亞(ya) 大學 

今年哥大最新的補充文書(shu) 題目和字數要求都發生了變化;受到平權法案事件的影響,今年新增了一道關(guan) 於(yu) “克服困境”相關(guan) 的文書(shu) 題目。

今年文書(shu) 題目共5題,由1道List question和4道Short answer questions組成,前者字數不超過100字,後者則需在150字以內(nei) 回答。

對於(yu) List question的回答請參考這幾點:

1.要求申請者使用逗號或分號列舉(ju) 每個(ge) 單獨的回答;

2.這些項目不必編號亦或按特定順序排序;

3.書(shu) 籍或其他出版物的標題不需要斜體(ti) 或是下劃線;

4.不需要作者姓名、字幕或者解釋性說明。

1.List a selection of texts, resources and outlets that have contributed to your intellectual development outside of academic courses, including but not limited to books, journals, websites, podcasts, essays, plays, presentations, videos, museums and other content that you enjoy.  (100 words or fewer)

05聖母大學

聖母大學的補充文書(shu) 要求每年都在變化,與(yu) 去年的必答題+四選一題目不同,今年題目由三選二論文(Essay question)和五選三簡答題(Short answer)構成。

Essay: Please provide a response to two (2) of the following questions. The word count is a maximum of 150 words per response.

· Notre Dame fosters an undergraduate experience dedicated to the intellectual, moral, and spiritual development of each individual, characterized by a collective sense of care for every person. How do you foster service to others in your community?
