You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. The graph below shows the demand for electricity in England during typical days in winter and summer. The pie chart shows how electricity is used in an average English home.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.You should write at least 150 words.

(1)The line graph shows the average daily amount of electricity used for both winter and summer for UK households; while the pie chart contrasts the proportions of electricity used in four categories of household appliances.

Overall, residences in winter used over double the amount of daily electricity used in summer; however, the patterns for both seasons were similar, (2)with heating, including that for water, ranking highest for electricity usage.

From about 9:30 at night to midnight, electricity use declines in winter, and this also remains true for summer, though this drop begins about an hour and a half later. In winter, however, electricity consumption begins to pick up again and sees its morning high point at 3 am, using 40,000 units, and thereafter gradually decreases, so that by 9 am it will have fallen by a further 10, 000 units. Summer, on the other hand, only registers a decline of about 6,000 units from its peak the previous evening. Electricity use in winter witnesses its highest usage at just over 45,000 units by 9 pm; whereas, summer’s occurs at both 3 pm and midnight, to reach approximately 20,000 units respectively.

All heating consumes 52% of electricity, with the other three categories of appliances all having roughly the same proportion of electricity usage of between 15% to18%.
