關於美國“藤校”本科申請的麵試要求真實說明

美國“常春藤院校”，可簡稱為(wei) “藤校”，是美國本科申請過程中關(guan) 注度最高的一批院校。申請難度大，錄取標準高，絕非普娃可以觸及。先簡單科普一下，“藤校”包括哈佛大學、普林斯頓大學、耶魯大學、哥倫(lun) 比亞(ya) 大學、賓夕法尼亞(ya) 大學、康奈爾大學、布朗大學、和達特茅斯學院。錄取難度同樣極高的斯坦福大學和麻省理工學院等，並不屬於(yu) “藤校”。

在申請“藤校”的過程中，不少學生都經曆過麵試（Interview）。那麽(me) ，麵試是不是申請“藤校”的必須環節呢？究竟是誰來給學生做麵試呢？

關(guan) 於(yu) 麵試的傳(chuan) 言不少。這些傳(chuan) 言，不僅(jin) 僅(jin) 有些學生和家長相信了，竟然有些國際學校的升學指導老師也相信了，還給學生做了錯誤的說明。比如，這個(ge) 學生學校的升學指導老師說耶魯大學有1-2個(ge) 小時的招生官麵試，賓大也有招生官麵試，且是一對多的麵試。事實如此嗎？

張老師不是打假的，我對我講過的話自信且負責，不會(hui) 未經驗證就瞎說八道。我們(men) 就來逐一看看八所“藤校”關(guan) 於(yu) 麵試說明和要求：

耶魯大學（Yale University）

1.“All Yale interviews, both those with alumni and those with current Yale seniors”所有耶魯大學的麵試均由校友或大四學生提供。（哪裏有招生官？？）

2.“Interviews are evaluative. Admissions officers read interview reports alongside application materials.”麵試是有評估性質的。招生官會(hui) 把麵試報告和其它申請材料一並審核。

3.“Prospective students may not request an interview; alumni and student interviewers contact applicants after their admissions materials are submitted.”學生不能主動要求麵試。校友或大四學生將在學生申請材料提交後主動聯係學生安排麵試。

4.“Admissions prioritizes interviews for students for whom the Admissions Committee needs more information. Students who do not receive an interview invitation will not be disadvantaged.”招生委員會(hui) 將優(you) 先選擇為(wei) 那些需要了解更多信息的學生安排校友/大四學生麵試。沒有收到麵試邀請的學生不會(hui) 因此處於(yu) 不利地位。

5.“Interviews are not required, and many successful applicants are not interviewed.”麵試非必須。很多被成功錄取的學生並沒有經過麵試。

賓夕法尼亞(ya) 大學 (University of Pennsylvania)

1.“Each year Penn attempts to connect as many applicants as possible with alumni, depending on volunteer availability.”賓大每年都盡力給盡可能多的申請人提供校友麵試。這個(ge) 過程主要取決(jue) 於(yu) 是否有足夠的校友資源。（哪有招生官什麽(me) 事兒(er) ？？）

2.“It is our policy that applicants cannot request a conversation with an alum. ”申請人不能主動要求校友麵試。

3.“your application will not be viewed negatively if you aren’t offered a conversation with an alum.”如果沒有校友麵試的話，申請並不會(hui) 處於(yu) 不利的地位。

4.“Our alumni aren’t admissions officers, and they will not see any part of your application.”校友不是招生官。他們(men) 也看不到任何你的申請材料（除了名字和聯係方式）。

5.Student Applications are not pre-screened or sorted. Applicants are matched solely on availability of our alumni volunteers.學生的申請材料並不會(hui) 提前篩選區分。能否有麵試機會(hui) 完全取決(jue) 於(yu) 是否有足夠的校友資源可以提供麵試。

哈佛大學（Harvard University）

1.“When possible, we try to arrange for you to meet with alumni/ae in or near your school communities. You will not be at a disadvantage if an interview cannot be arranged.”可能的話，我們(men) 會(hui) 盡可能安排校友麵試。如果沒有麵試的話，你也不會(hui) 因此受到不利影響。

2.“Our interviewers abroad are graduates of Harvard who offer their assistance on a volunteer basis. While we try to make interviewers as widely available as possible, it will not always be possible for a student to have an interview.”我們(men) 的麵試官是哈佛的畢業(ye) 生，他們(men) 義(yi) 務為(wei) 大學提供幫助。我們(men) 將盡可能提供麵試，但是並不是每個(ge) 人都有機會(hui) 被麵試。

3.“It is not possible to request an interview and we are not able to conduct interviews in Cambridge.”學生不能主動要求麵試。我們(men) 也不會(hui) 在大學所在地（Cambridge）提供麵試。

4.“It is important to note that our alumni interviewers do not have access to your application – they only have your name, your contact information and the name of your high school.”我們(men) 的校友麵試官不會(hui) 看到你的申請材料。他們(men) 隻會(hui) 有你的姓名，聯係方式和高中名字。

普林斯頓大學（Princeton University）

1.“Princeton offers optional alumni interviews.”普林斯頓提供的是選擇性的校友麵試。

2.“Interviews take place after the Admission Office has received your application.”麵試會(hui) 在招生委員會(hui) 收到你的申請材料後安排。

3.“You may choose to opt out of the interview in the Princeton Supplement, and this choice will not put you at any disadvantage in the admission process.”你可以選擇不參加麵試，這個(ge) 選擇並不會(hui) 影響你的申請。

4.“The interviews are 30-45 minute informal conversations.”麵試是30-45分鍾的非正式的交流。

5.“We cannot guarantee that every applicant will receive an interview. This will depend on the availability of alumni in your area. If you do not receive an interview for any reason, it will not put you at a disadvantage since the interview is optional.”我們(men) 無法保證每個(ge) 申請人都能被麵試。這取決(jue) 於(yu) 我們(men) 麵試官的資源。如果你沒有收到麵試邀請，你的申請不會(hui) 受到影響，因為(wei) 麵試本來就是選擇性的。

達特茅斯學院（Dartmouth College）

1.“ After you've submitted your application, you may be offered an opportunity to interview with a Dartmouth graduate.”你提交申請後，你可能會(hui) 有機會(hui) 與(yu) 達特茅斯學院的畢業(ye) 生進行麵試。

2.“You do not need to schedule an interview. Once you apply, your contact information is sent to volunteer alumni admissions ambassadors.”你無需主動要求麵試。你申請完之後，你的聯係方式就會(hui) 被給到校友麵試官。

3.“While our alumni work hard to offer as many interviews as possible, we are not able to offer interviews to all applicants due to alumni availability and geography.”盡管我們(men) 的校友麵試官會(hui) 盡可能多提供麵試機會(hui) ，但是我們(men) 不能保證每個(ge) 申請人都被麵試到。

4.“Alumni interviews are both informative and evaluative. An interview report is added to your file and is reviewed along with your other materials.”校友麵試既是信息提供性質的也是評估性質的。麵試報告會(hui) 與(yu) 你的其它申請材料一同被審理。

5.“Not having an interview will not put you at a disadvantage in the admissions process.”不參加麵試不會(hui) 對你有不利的影響。

康奈爾大學（Cornell University）

1.“While not evaluative interviews, first-year applicants to any Cornell college or school may request an informational meeting with an alumni admissions ambassador in their local area.”麵試不是評估性質的。學生可以主動申請與(yu) 校友麵試官進行信息交流性質的溝通。

2.“This informal conversation with a member of our Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network (CAAAN) is not required, and is offered as an additional way for applicants to learn about Cornell.”這種非正式的溝通並不是必須的，僅(jin) 僅(jin) 是為(wei) 申請人了解康奈爾大學提供一個(ge) 途徑。

3.“Due to time, geographic, and volunteer constraints, not all applicants will be contacted; please be assured that applications are not adversely impacted if an applicant is not contacted or is unable to meet with a CAAAN member.”由於(yu) 地域和校友資源的限製，並不是所有申請人都會(hui) 被麵試。請放心，你的申請不會(hui) 因為(wei) 沒有麵試而受到不利的影響。

4.“Architecture: Required portfolio and interview.”建築專(zhuan) 業(ye) 要求作品集和麵試。

哥倫(lun) 比亞(ya) 大學（Columbia University）

1.“Interviews are not a part of the application process.”麵試不是申請的一個(ge) 部分。

2.“Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science have decided to discontinue their alumni interview program for individuals seeking admission. The decision, which takes effect this fall for the 2023-2024 admissions cycle.”哥倫(lun) 比亞(ya) 學院和哥倫(lun) 比亞(ya) 工程學院已經決(jue) 定不再提供校友麵試。該決(jue) 定自2023-2024申請季開始生效。

布朗大學（Brown University）

1.“While Brown has previously considered alumni interviews, they have not been offered since the 2019-20 academic year and will no longer be available moving forward.”布朗大學曾經考慮過校友麵試，但是自2019-2020申請季就停止了，今後也不會(hui) 再提供了。

2.“As an alternative means of sharing more about yourself beyond the information you provided in your application, we recommend submitting a two-minute video introduction.”我們(men) 推薦學生提交一個(ge) 2分鍾的視頻介紹。

3.“Submitting a video introduction can offer another opportunity to tell us who you are and why you are interested in attending Brown.”提交視頻介紹可以讓我們(men) 知道你是誰以及為(wei) 何你對布朗大學感興(xing) 趣。

4.“Videos will not be evaluated for production quality or editing ability; we are simply hoping to get to know you through your own voice.”視頻的剪輯效果和後期製作質量並不會(hui) 被考慮，我們(men) 隻想通過你自己的聲音來了解你。

以上就是八所“藤校”關(guan) 於(yu) 麵試的具體(ti) 說明了。哥大和布朗已經取消校友麵試，其餘(yu) 六所大學的麵試均為(wei) Optional的校友麵試（康奈爾大學的建築專(zhuan) 業(ye) 麵試是必須的）。曾經沒有參加過麵試，但是被“藤校”錄取的實際案例存在；獲得了Optional麵試邀請，認真準備了很久，但是沒有被錄取的也比比皆是。

另外，無論是申請哪所“藤校”，學生都沒有機會(hui) 參加招生委員會(hui) /招生官提供的麵試！不要再輕信各種傳(chuan) 言了！
