Task 1- 教育學習(xi)

Some people think that only those who perform well in secondary school should be able to attend university. Others believe that anyone who really wants to attend university should have that opportunity. Which view do you agree with? Explain why.

Task 2- 校園活動

閱讀部分:

積極框架(‘Positive Framing’)

人們(men) 傾(qing) 向於(yu) 將信息或選擇以積極、正麵的方式來呈現或表達, 這種方式通常能夠更有效地影響人們(men) 的決(jue) 策和選擇.

聽力部分:

當天氣預報說明天會(hui) 下雨時, 人們(men) 更傾(qing) 向於(yu) 帶上雨傘(san) ; 而當天氣預報說明天有50%的降雨可能性時, 人們(men) 可能會(hui) 選擇不帶雨傘(san) . 這就是積極框架的體(ti) 現, 正麵描述了下雨的可能性, 但影響了人們(men) 的選擇行為(wei) . 類似地, 人們(men) 購買(mai) 退燒藥物時, 如果被告知藥物有90%的治愈率, 人們(men) 更傾(qing) 向於(yu) 購買(mai) ; 而如果被告知有10%的失敗率, 人們(men) 更可能選擇相信前者並購買(mai) 藥物.

Task 4- 生物學

群居動物聚集在一起有天然的好處: 當氣溫很低時, 可以通過抱團取暖以度過寒冷氣候舉(ju) 例:南極的帝企鵝(‘king penguin’) 在極低溫環境中, 帝企鵝會(hui) 聚集在一起取暖. 體(ti) 型較大的帝企鵝會(hui) 站在外圍保護較小、更容易受傷(shang) 的個(ge) 體(ti) , 以保持群體(ti) 內(nei) 溫度, 確保幼體(ti) 和較脆弱的個(ge) 體(ti) 不被嚴(yan) 寒所傷(shang) 害.

應對能力2:麵對天敵的群居行為(wei)

群居動物聚集的另一個(ge) 好處: 互相預警舉(ju) 例: 燕八哥(‘starling’)麵對獵鷹時, 他們(men) 會(hui) 大量群集. 較大的個(ge) 體(ti) 會(hui) 保護群體(ti) 外圍較小的個(ge) 體(ti) , 以提高整體(ti) 群體(ti) 的存活率. 因為(wei) 獵鷹很難一次性捕捉到多個(ge) 目標. 這種安全於(yu) 數量的策略使得獵食者難以選擇目標, 並增加了生物體(ti) 群體(ti) 的生存機會(hui) .

TASK 2 -學術討論-環境類

Your professor is teaching a class on Education. Write a post responding to the professor’s question.

In your response, you should do the following:

Doctor Achebe:

This week, we’ll be discussing ways in which schools can help expose their students (aged 5 to 18) to learning experiences beyond the classroom. Let’s begin by discussing one popular idea that some schools are considering - offering outdoor classes once a month. On the day of outdoor classes, students will be transported to local parks or nature preserves, and teachers can help students explore nature and learn about the environment. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not?

Andrew:

Having outdoor classes once a month seems like an exciting way of providing students with interesting hands-on experiences. However, I don’t think these classes would be a worthwhile use of instructional time and school resources. These classes could put substantial pressure on the schools’financial resources and on teachers, who may have to redesign their lesson plans.

Claire:

On the other hand, outdoor classes can increase students’motivation to learn about the intrinsic relation of the natural world. These classes could provide great opportunities to teach students about pressing environmental issues, such as pollution, and ways to address these problems. It would deepen their understanding beyond what books alone could achieve and would be time well spent.
