西北大學2023-2024申請新政：不再強製要求主文書...

新的申請季，美國大學陸續公布新一年的申請政策和文書(shu) 題目，大部分學校都無太大調整，值得注意的是排名第十位的西北大學今年有了一個(ge) “大動作”：不再強製要求提交主文書(shu) ，這在往年可不敢想。

西北大學表示：我們(men) 設計了補充文書(shu) ，以幫助我們(men) 了解申請者在高中階段的經曆，並想象您可以成為(wei) 哪種類型的西北大學學生。補充文書(shu) 題目涉及到我們(men) 認為(wei) 在構建2028屆西北大學新生群體(ti) 方麵至關(guan) 重要的領域，但如果您覺得它們(men) 能最好地講述您想要分享的故事，您可以隨意重新利用您為(wei) 其他申請編寫(xie) 的文章（包括我們(men) 不再要求提供的Common/Coalition Application個(ge) 人陳述）。

從(cong) 這段表述中，我們(men) 可以看出，西北大學更在乎學生對補充文書(shu) 的展示內(nei) 容。這也比較符合大多數學校近年的招生策略，Commom APP主文書(shu) 題目多年都沒有太大的變化，申請學生（或機構）對主文書(shu) 的寫(xie) 作套路都有比較深刻的研究，主文書(shu) 並不能幫助招生官有效的篩選學生。

因此，西北大學的建議是：如果在我們(men) 的補充問題中可能沒有涵蓋到您認為(wei) 對於(yu) 您的申請很重要的信息或特質，我們(men) 歡迎您在Common Application中提交個(ge) 人陳述或額外信息，但這絕不是必需的。

我們(men) 在CA係統中，也已經看到了西北大學的主文書(shu) “Optional”標識。

申請者該怎麽(me) 辦？

該提交還是要提交！就像大部分學校標化成績也是“Optional”一樣，越來越多的學生都是要提交的，主文書(shu) 也是一樣。況且，TOP20裏目前隻有這一所學校文書(shu) 要求是“Optional”，如果你還申請其他學校，主文書(shu) 必須是要寫(xie) 的，既然寫(xie) 了，就沒有理由在申請西北大學時不提交，除非你主文書(shu) 的素材已經用於(yu) 補充文書(shu) 。

但是這個(ge) 細微的變化也很重要，提醒所有申請者：補充文書(shu) 非常重要，很可能就是決(jue) 定你是否錄取的關(guan) 鍵素材!

西北大學補充文書(shu) 要求

既然西北大學主文書(shu) 變成可選的了，補充文書(shu) 的重要性不言而喻。那麽(me) 補充文書(shu) 又是如何要求的呢？

1、所有通過Common App或Coalition係統申請的學生，需要回答下麵這個(ge) 問題（必選），要求不超過300字或者更少。

We want to be sure we’re considering your application in the context of your personal experiences: What aspects of your background, your identity, or your school, community, and/or household settings have most shaped how you see yourself engaging in Northwestern’s community, be it academically, extracurricularly, culturally, politically, socially, or otherwise?

1）Painting “The Rock” is a tradition at Northwestern that invites all forms of expression—students promote campus events or extracurricular groups, support social or activist causes, show their Wildcat spirit (what we call “Purple Pride”), celebrate their culture, and more. What would you paint on The Rock, and why?

西北大學近年錄取數據

西北大學排名前十，但錄取難度算是前十裏最小的學校之一，2026屆錄取率7.2%，2027屆尚沒有公布具體(ti) 數據，但官方透露錄取率再次下滑，已經到了7%。對國際學生而言，就更不樂(le) 觀了，國際學生占比10%，每年在大陸校錄取20人左右，西北大學的門檻依然很高。

新申請季西北大學依然延續標化可選政策，但我們(men) 建議有條件的學生盡量提交一個(ge) 好的標化分數，最近兩(liang) 年新生提交標化成績占比80%左右，SAT成績50%中位數也提升到了1500-1560，ACT成績50%中位數33-35。

對國際學生來說，申請西北大學，標化成績達到1550/35，才有安全感。
