01 Introducing Stanford SPICE 斯坦福SPICE介紹

Founded in 1976, the Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (SPICE) serves as a bridge between Stanford University and K-12 schools and colleges around the world by leveraging Stanford scholarship to global education in three areas: multidisciplinary curriculum development, teacher professional development, and online learning for students.

斯坦福國際和跨文化教育計劃（SPICE）成立於(yu) 1976年，是一座搭建斯坦福大學與(yu) 世界各地K-12學校和學院之間的橋梁，通過斯坦福大學的教育和研究資源在三個(ge) 領域推進全球教育，這三個(ge) 領域包括：跨學科課程設計、教師專(zhuan) 業(ye) 發展培訓和學生在線學習(xi) ，以此加深本地與(yu) 國際學生的文化認知。

SPICE is an educational program within Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI). FSI is committed to exploring issues and policies that cross international borders and affect life around the world. Through its interdisciplinary colleges and 12 research centers and programs, FSI has enhanced knowledge and understanding of governance, health policy, immigration, development, security, and regional dynamics in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, and has enabled Stanford University to participate in solving some of the world’s most pressing issues.

斯坦福國際和跨文化教育項目(SPICE)隸屬於(yu) 斯坦福大學弗裏曼·斯波格利國際研究學院(FSI)。FSI致力於(yu) 探索跨越國際邊界並影響世界各地生活的問題和政策等。通過其跨學科的學院及12個(ge) 中心和研究計劃，該研究院增進了對治理、衛生政策、移民、發展、安全以及亞(ya) 洲、歐洲和拉丁美洲等地區動態的知識和理解，促使斯坦福大學參與(yu) 解決(jue) 一些世界上最緊迫的問題。

 02 About Stanford e-China 關(guan) 於(yu) 斯坦福e-China

Stanford e-China is an exemplary manifestation of SPICE’s mission. Launched in 2018, Stanford e-China is committed to connecting some of the most talented and motivated young students in China and the United States to engage in conversations about global challenges and opportunities facing humanity today and interact with renowned scholars at Stanford University.

斯坦福e-China是SPICE使命的傑出範例。於(yu) 2018年開啟後，斯坦福e-China將中美兩(liang) 國最優(you) 秀及最有潛力的年輕學生聯結起來，在斯坦福大學各領域著名學者的指導下，共同討論當今全球所麵臨(lin) 的挑戰與(yu) 機遇。  

03 About Stanford WAPI 關(guan) 於(yu) 斯坦福WAPI

Inspired by growing interest in Stanford e-China and SPICE’s mission to promote Stanford scholarship in cross-cultural education, we established Stanford e-China Wit and Pep Initiative (SWAPI). SWAPI aims to encourage young students in China to share ideas and express themselves effectively through public speaking and writing about global challenges and opportunities that demand international collaboration, and to foster cross-cultural understanding.  

鑒於(yu) 斯坦福e-China不斷增長的申請數量，以及達成SPICE在跨文化教育中推廣斯坦福教育的使命，我們(men) 創立了斯坦福WAPI。斯坦福WAPI旨在吸引更多中國年輕學生以公開演講和寫(xie) 作的方式來有效地展現自己的觀點，並且推進跨文化的理解與(yu) 交流，尤其是需要國際合作應對的全球挑戰和機遇相關(guan) 話題。

05 SWAPI Participation Rules

SWAPI Speech Themes and Content

SWAPI encourages participants to engage in discussions on the following six themes:

SWAPI鼓勵參與(yu) 者就以下六個(ge) 主題進行討論：

2Environment and Sustainability環境與(yu) 可持續發展

3Health and Well-being身心健康

4Education and Learning教育與(yu) 學習(xi)

5Business and Entrepreneurship商業(ye) 與(yu) 創業(ye)

6Culture and the Arts文化與(yu) 藝術 參與(yu) 規則

Guidelines

Participants from age 10 to 18 are allowed to enter SWAPI.

參與(yu) 者年齡限製為(wei) 10歲至18歲。

Participants need to enter either Rising Stars Division (age 10 to 14) or Future Pioneers Division (age 15 to 18).

參與(yu) 者按照年齡段分為(wei) 明日之星組（10至14歲）和未來先鋒組（15至18歲）。

Participants will submit speech videos either individually or as a team of two.

參與(yu) 者可以單人參加，也可以兩(liang) 人組隊參與(yu) ，提交內(nei) 容為(wei) 演講視頻。

Each video should be between 2 to 5 minutes.

每個(ge) 提交的視頻時長應在2至5分鍾之間。

All members of a team need to speak in the video.

團隊的每位成員都需要出現在視頻中進行演講。

A number of participants will be recognized as finalists. Some finalists will be selected to enter Super Day, where participants will be invited to give a 10 to 15 minute presentation and engage in a Q&A session with SWAPI judges and/or advisors.

部分參與(yu) 者將被選為(wei) 入圍者。少數入圍者將獲得進入超級日的資格，向SWAPI評委和/或顧問展示10至15分鍾演示並接受問答。

All decisions and results made by SWAPI are final.

所有決(jue) 定和結果均為(wei) SWAPI的最終決(jue) 定。

Both the participants and their parents need to sign a consent form for registration and photo and/or video release before entering SWAPI.

在進入SWAPI之前，所有參與(yu) 者及其監護人需要簽署注冊(ce) 同意書(shu) ，並授權使用其照片和/或視頻。  

06 SWAPI Evaluation Criteria SWAPI評審標準

Content 內(nei) 容 · Point of View

主要觀點: 參與(yu) 者應當清楚地展示自己的主要觀點（說服型演講）或保持演講內(nei) 容與(yu) 演講主題、標題高度相關(guan) （信息型演講），突出重點。

Participants should clearly present their main idea (persuasive speech) or keep the content of the speech highly relevant to the topic and title of the speech (informative speech), highlighting key points.

· Creativity and Influence

創新性與(yu) 影響力：參與(yu) 者應當展示自己的創新思考，演講內(nei) 容具備對外的影響力為(wei) 佳。

Participants should demonstrate their own innovative thinking, and it is better for the content of the speech to have external influence.

· Structure and Vocabulary

結構與(yu) 詞匯：參與(yu) 者應當使用正確且合適的句式、語法和詞匯。

Participants should use correct and appropriate sentence structure, grammar and vocabulary.

Delivery 展示 · Articulation and Voice

發音與(yu) 聲音：參與(yu) 者應當清楚、準確地發音，注意語音、語調及語速，保持聲音洪亮清晰。

Participants should pronounce clearly and accurately, pay attention to pronunciation, intonation and speed, and keep their voice loud and clear.

· Presence and Background

呈現與(yu) 背景：參與(yu) 者應當自然地、自信且富有情感地進行演講，並且保證背景幹淨明亮，著裝整潔。

Participants should speak naturally, confidently and emotionally, with a clean and bright background and neatly dressed.
