John Locke國際論文競賽

約翰·洛克論文競賽 (John Locke Institute Essay Competition) 的設立是為(wei) 了紀念英國著名哲學家John Locke，旨在考察學生的基本知識結構，培養(yang) 學生獨立思考能力、邏輯能力、辯證能力。

該賽事是獨立教育組織John Locke Institute與(yu) 牛津、普林斯頓、布朗、白金漢大學等眾(zhong) 多名校教授一起合作組織的學術項目。

以紀念名人為(wei) 基石，由眾(zhong) 多名校教授加持的國際性競賽其含金量自然不言而喻。而事實也證明了這一點。往屆參賽學生錄取offer涵蓋了普林斯頓、哈佛、耶魯、斯坦福、芝加哥、伯克利、牛津、劍橋等世界名校。因此，John Locke競賽也常被譽為(wei) “人文社科競賽天花板”、“英美頂尖學府潛在人才庫”。

Philosophy：

Politics：

Q1. Is there such a thing as too much democracy?

Q2. Is peace in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip possible?

Q3. When is compliance complicity?

Economics：

Q1. What is the optimal global population?

Q2. Accurate news reporting is a public good. Does it follow that news agencies should be funded from taxation?

Q3. Do successful business people benefit others when making their money, when spending it, both, or neither?

History：

Q1. Why was sustained economic growth so rare before the later 18th century and why did this change?

Q2. Has music ever significantly changed the course of history?

Q3. Why do civilisations collapse? Is our civilisation in danger?

Law：

Q1. When, if ever, should a company be permitted to refuse to do business with a person because of that person’s public statements?

Q2. In the last five years British police have arrested several thousand people for things they posted on social media. Is the UK becoming a police state?

Q3. Your parents say that 11pm is your bedtime. But they don’t punish you if you don’t go to bed by 11pm. Is 11pm really your bedtime?

Psychology：
