密歇根安娜堡本科新生申請不易 Ross商學院BBA難度更大

密歇根大學安娜堡分校（University of Michigan–Ann Arbor），全美公立大學“三巨頭”之一，幾乎沒有什麽(me) 弱勢的學科，絕對是一個(ge) 出色大學。作為(wei) 一所大型的公立大學，2023年秋季學期，大學共有本科生33730人，碩博學生18335人。

在本科新生申請的時候，密歇根大學安娜堡分校對於(yu) 國際生來說並不是一個(ge) 好的選擇，原因：密歇根大學安娜堡分校哪兒(er) 都好，為(wei) 何卻不是本科新生申請人的理想選擇？

密歇根大學安娜堡分校共計有19個(ge) 學院，其中建築和城市規劃學院，藝術與(yu) 設計學院，音樂(le) 戲劇與(yu) 舞蹈學院，商學院，牙醫學院，教育學院，工程學院，環境與(yu) 可持續發展學院，信息學院，運動機能學院，文理學院，護理學院，藥學院，公共衛生學院，公共政策學院接受本科生。

在申請密歇根大學安娜堡本科的學生中，有很多人是向往其Ross School of Business的。這也難怪，該校的商學院在全美排名Top10左右，全美本科商科項目排名第四位。Ross商學院成立於(yu) 1924年（今年是Ross成立整100周年），2022年本科畢業(ye) 生就業(ye) 率99.1%。

Ross商學院提供Bachelor of Business Administration（BBA）的本科學位，不設置具體(ti) 的專(zhuan) 業(ye) 方向，但是學生可以在Ross學到的課程Accounting，Business Communication，Business Economics & Public Policy，Business Law，Consulting，Entrepreneurship，Finance & Banking，Management & Organizations，Marketing，Nonprofit & Social Impact，Sales，Strategy，Supply Chain Management以及Technology & Operations等課程。

另外，Ross的學生約有一半的課程來自其它學院，且31%的學會(hui) 修雙學位或輔修。 Ross商學院提供3種申請的方式，即大一新生、本校學生轉入、外校學生轉入。

注意，Ross商學院對本校學生僅(jin) 接受大一學生的轉入申請，對外校學生接受大一或大二學生的申請，但是全部需要在Ross學習(xi) 三年，也就是說轉入Ross之後都隻能讀大二。Ross商學院共有本科生2300人+（2023秋，2333人），本科新生的位置為(wei) 500人左右，此外Ross每年接受125名本科轉學生（100人來自大學內(nei) 部，25人來自其它大學）。Ross的本科新生錄取難度非常高，共計9,210申請，大學隻錄取818人，率取率約為(wei) 8.8%。在錄取的學生中，國際生占比僅(jin) 為(wei) 6%。

在本科新生的階段，申請密歇根大學Ross商學院在2024年以前有非常特殊的規定：申請人不能直接選擇Ross商學院（申請係統不提供商學院的選項），而可以選擇文理學院，然後在Preferred Admission之下選擇Ross School of Business.如果學生申請了文理學院，同時Preferred Admission到了商學院，則學生直接進入Ross商學院學習(xi) ；而如果學生錄了文理學院但是沒有被Preferred Admission到商學院，則學生今後無法轉入商學院的BBA項目。

在新生階段，大學有約500人的位置，這其中即包括了商學院的BBA的學生，也包括了計劃學習(xi) 藝術設計、工程、運動機能學（體(ti) 育管理專(zhuan) 業(ye) ），或音樂(le) 戲劇與(yu) 舞蹈和BBA雙學位的學生，這些學生是大二開始正式在商學院的BBA開始學習(xi) 。

從(cong) 2024年開始，申請密歇根大學商學院的時候，學生則有兩(liang) 種選擇，一種是學生直接申請Ross商學院（申請係統將商學院作為(wei) 一個(ge) 獨立的學院選項），直接將商學院的BBA作為(wei) 自己專(zhuan) 業(ye) 。另一種是，選擇一個(ge) 學院，如藝術設計學院、工程學院、運動機能學院（體(ti) 育管理專(zhuan) 業(ye) ），或音樂(le) 戲劇與(yu) 舞蹈學院，然後在Preferred Admission之下選擇Ross School of Business。

Ross商學院的申請材料要求也相對比較複雜，比申請文理學院或工程學院等要求要多。在申請密歇根大學的時候，學生需要完成兩(liang) 篇附加文書(shu) ：

1. Everyone belongs to many different communities and/or groups defined by (among other things) shared geography, religion, ethnicity, income, cuisine, interest, race, ideology, or intellectual heritage. Choose one of the communities to which you belong, and describe that community and your place within it.（300字）

2. Describe the unique qualities that attract you to the specific undergraduate College or School (including preferred admission and dual degree programs) to which you are applying at the University of Michigan. How would that curriculum support your interests?（550字）

而如果在申請的時候選擇商學院或在Preferred Admission之下選擇商學院，那麽(me) 學生除了要完成上述兩(liang) 篇文書(shu) 之外，還需要完成Ross Admissions Portfolio的兩(liang) 篇文書(shu) 並通過Common App中的SlideRoom鏈接提交。

1. Business Case Discussion: Choose a current event or issue in your community and discuss the business implications. Propose a solution that incorporates business principles or practices. The review panel will look for creativity, drawing connections, and originality. Please limit this response to approximately 500 words.

2. Artifact & Description: Upload a document or artifact that represents something significant about your life to show your learning in action. Describe how your artifact demonstrates your learning in action. Please limit this response to approximately 250 words. ‍

‍ Ross商學院對申請人的高中課程也有比較明確的要求，申請人需要在高中階段完成：

4 units of English
3 units of science, including biology
4 units of mathematics (Calculus Preferred)
3 units of history and/or social science
2 units of the same foreign language
5 units of other academic subjects

針對本科轉學，Ross也有嚴(yan) 格的課程要求，申請人需要完成微積分、微觀經濟及寫(xie) 作課程。Ross的本轉不能通過Common App來申請，而是需要通過自己的獨立的係統，截止日期是3月31日。

針對密歇根大學內(nei) 部申請轉入Ross或其它大學申請轉入Ross的學生，都需要回答：

1. Describe why you want to pursue a BBA degree at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, and how the Ross experience will support your personal and professional goals. (500-word maximum)

2. Reflect on your current or ongoing involvement in a specific organization outside of the classroom. Why did you join this organization? How did you make this organization or the community better? What did you learn? (500-word maximum)

Optional Essay Prompt（選擇性Essay） Briefly describe any unique personal circumstances, such as a major illness or personal tragedy, that have had a significant effect on your application credentials. Additionally, please describe any gaps in your academic record (e.g., lower course grade, taking a gap year between high school and college). If these circumstances are on-going, how will you manage them if admitted to the Stephen M. Ross School of Business?
