Social Justice Awards 2023 Fall 正式開啟！

Social Justice Awards是由青少年非營利組織Social Justice Watcher (SJW) 所舉(ju) 辦的公益項目，旨在通過鼓勵青少年進行寫(xie) 作、演講與(yu) 藝術創作，引導青少年關(guan) 注社會(hui) 不平等現象，促使青年人思考並通過自身行動改變社會(hui) 。

在往屆活動中，我們(men) 收到來自中國、新加坡、美國、英國、加拿大、荷蘭(lan) 、瑞士、日本、泰國等地區360多所中學，超過2100名學生的作品。多位優(you) 秀參與(yu) 者被哈佛大學、耶魯大學、哥倫(lun) 比亞(ya) 大學、斯坦福大學、芝加哥大學、西北大學、布朗大學、康奈爾大學、牛津大學等世界名校錄取。

此次活動，我們(men) 邀請了來自耶魯大學、普林斯頓大學、複旦大學、哈佛大學、芝加哥藝術學院、布爾日國立高等藝術學院、中國美術學院、天津美術學院的教授、演講教練、設計師與(yu) 藝術家擔當本次活動的特邀專(zhuan) 家。

活動背景

2023 Fall主題：Empower, Don't Sour: Say No to Body Shaming

身體(ti) 羞辱是一個(ge) 複雜的問題,在許多社會(hui) 中根深蒂固,往往是由文化規範、媒體(ti) 描繪和社會(hui) 對美的期待所延續的。它可以以眾(zhong) 多方式呈現,並可能對個(ge) 人的心理和身體(ti) 健康產(chan) 生嚴(yan) 重影響。

身體(ti) 羞辱的類型:

體重和身材羞辱:這是最為人知的身體羞辱形式,羞辱超重或體重不足的個人。
年齡羞辱:根據一個人的年齡批評其外表,比如指出皺紋或鬆弛的皮膚。
身高羞辱:取笑某人過於高大或矮小。
皮膚羞辱:因一個人的膚色、暗沉、瑕疵或其他皮膚狀況而歧視他人。

關(guan) 於(yu) 身體(ti) 羞辱,這裏有一些額外細節:

據估計,高達80%的女性經曆過某種程度的身體羞辱。但它影響著所有性別的人。
身體羞辱與更低的自尊、進食障礙、抑鬱、社交焦慮和健康篩查的回避相關。
最常觸發身體羞辱的評論涉及體重、身形、皮膚缺陷、身體比例、性或性別特征。
媒體推廣的社會文化吸引力理想設置了近乎不可能被大多數人達到的不現實標準,助長身體不滿。
創傷史、欺淩、青春期缺乏父母支持等因素會加劇身體羞辱傾向。
即使是來自朋友/家人細微、“有益”的關於體重或外表的評論也可能反而滋生羞辱感。
身體中立和欣賞運動旨在通過接納多樣性和注重健康、能力而不是僅僅外表的審美來反擊狹隘的美感理想。

- 活動題目 Prompts：

1. “No amount of self-improvement can make up for any lack of self-acceptance.” – Robert Holden. How do you understand this quote?

2. Examine how the 'ideal' body has changed throughout history and the role of societal pressures in body shaming.

3. Analyze the role media plays in perpetuating body shaming and how it can be used to promote body positivity instead.

4. Share a personal story or experience with body shaming and how it affected you or someone you know.

所有參與(yu) 者必須從(cong) 以上題目中選擇一個(ge) 作為(wei) 作品主題，通過寫(xie) 作、藝術作品或演講表達自己的觀點。

參與(yu) 條件 Entry Requirements

任何國家地區任何學校，且年齡在提交截止日期時未超過20歲的青少年均可參加。

寫(xie) 作作品要求 Writing Requirements

作品須以英語寫成
敘事文或論文（600-2000詞）；詩歌（不超過80行）
作品須為原創。如有引用他人作品，參與者必須包括文中引用以及參考文獻。如發現有抄襲，參與者將被立即取消資格。不要在文中包括名字、家庭住址等任何個人信息。
The work must be written in English
Narratives or Essays (600-2000 words); Poetry (no more than 80 lines)
Participants must complete their work originally. If other’s works are cited, participants must include in-textcitation and bibliography. Once the participant is found to plagiarized, he or she will be disqualified directly. Do not include any personal information, such as name, home address, etc

MS Word文件（文件須小於20M）
作品題目必須置於作品第一頁
Times New Roman字體，12號字，2.0行距
如有參考，請使用文中引用及參考文獻
文件名以姓名+類別組成（Sam Zhang, Writing）

The title of the work must be placed at the first page of the article

演講作品要求 Speech Requirements

作品須以英語演講
演講時長不得超過5分鍾
作品須為原創。如有引用他人作品，參與者必須包括文中引用以及參考文獻。如發現有抄襲，參與者將被立即取消資格。不要在文中包括名字、家庭住址等任何個人信息。
The speech must be done in English
Video length must not exceed 5 minutes
Participants must complete their work originally. Once the participant is found to plagiarized, he or she will be disqualified directly. Do not include any personal information, such as name, home address, etc

演講作品格式 Speech Formats

作品以Word作為最終格式上傳（例如：某參與作品為攝影/視頻作品，則參與者可以先建立word文檔，在文檔中插入作品/視頻鏈接, 例如bilibili，youtube etc.以及作品陳述後提交）
文件名由姓名+類別組成（keyi Lin, Speech）
Videos will be uploaded in video link (e.g. bilibili, youtube etc.）
The file is named by name + category (keyi Lin, Speech)

藝術作品要求 Art Requirements

漫畫、音樂、設計、視頻、繪畫、插圖、混合畫、攝影、版畫
作品須為原創。
參與者可以組成不超過2人的團隊完成作品，或自己獨自完成。
不要包括名字、家庭住址等任何個人信息
參與者須提交不少於100詞的英文作品陳述
Works in the form of comic art, music, design, video, painting and illustration, mixed media, photography, printmaking
Participants must complete their work originally
Participants can choose to complete the work in a group no more than 2 people, or they can choose to complete it by oneself
Do not include any personal information, such as name, home address, etc
Written reflection in English (artist’s statement) of more than 100 words is required

藝術作品格式 Art Format

視頻請以視頻鏈接形式（例如bilibili，youtube etc.）上傳，其他作品以PDF作為最終格式上傳（例如：某參與作品為攝影/視頻作品，則參與者可以先建立word文檔，在文檔中插入作品/視頻鏈接以及作品陳述，轉換成PDF形式提交）

Embracing Every Body.

縱觀曆史,不同的身材和特征在各種文化中被理想化,延續著不現實的標準,這加劇了身體(ti) 羞辱。嘲笑他人外表的行為(wei) ,包括身材、體(ti) 型、膚色或其他明顯缺陷,是一種有害且普遍的文化現象,可能會(hui) 給目標個(ge) 體(ti) 帶來嚴(yan) 重的情感和心理後果。

作為(wei) 初中學生,你們(men) 的聲音是強有力的變革推動者。通過你們(men) 的寫(xie) 作,探索身體(ti) 羞辱的概念、它對個(ge) 人和社會(hui) 的影響,以及我們(men) 可以如何推廣身體(ti) 積極性和包容性。

活動題目 Prompts

1. Understanding Body Shaming. Define what body shaming is and provide examples of how it can manifest in everyday life. You can share personal experiences, observations, or stories you’ve heard.

2. Discuss how body shaming can impact individuals’ self-esteem, mental health, and overall well-being. Use real-life examples to highlight the emotional toll it can take on people.

3. Share ideas for promoting body positivity and self-love among your peers, family, and community. How can we create a more supportive environment that celebrates diversity in appearances?

所有參與(yu) 者必須從(cong) 以上題目中選擇一個(ge) 作為(wei) 作品主題，通過寫(xie) 作表達自己的觀點。
