AP英語語言與寫作：Q2開頭段的高分寫作方法

AP考試即將在5月到來。今天和同學們(men) 分享AP英語語言與(yu) 寫(xie) 作（APlang）Q2（question 2）開頭段的高分寫(xie) 作方法。

FRQ包含三篇寫(xie) 作任務要求，其中Q2的要求是寫(xie) 一篇rhetorical analysis的文章。Q2會(hui) 先提供一篇文章，要求學生分析作者是在何種語境下，運用什麽(me) 修辭手法展開討論，達到寫(xie) 作目的的。

整體(ti) 而言，Q2不是單單強調學生對內(nei) 容的理解，而是要求學生發現文本語言的獨特特征和藝術表現力。簡言之，學生要完成的任務是寫(xie) 一篇品鑒性的評論文章。

因此，建議在開頭段的寫(xie) 作中，考生可以注入一些鑒賞或評論性的描述，而不是簡單地概括作者文章主旨和使用的修辭手法。

下麵，我們(men) 先閱讀AP官方指南中一篇Q2的任務要求，然後我們(men) 再來看根據該篇任務要求完成的兩(liang) 個(ge) 開頭段。

這是一篇美國前國務卿賴斯（Rice）在一所大學的畢業(ye) 典禮上發表的演講。文章以“What do I mean by human progress”開篇，以“You see, things that seem impossible often seem inevitable in retrospect.”結尾。內(nei) 容談及黑人種族不應受到歧視，並建議年輕人擁有正確平等觀念，隻有這樣人類才能真正進步。文章主要使用了personal anecdote，repetition，rhetorical question，appeals to pathos等手法。

但是，如果開頭按下麵方式寫(xie) ，有問題嗎？

Condoleezza Rice, former United States Secretary of State, in her commencement speech to graduating class of Southern Methodist University, conveys her idea of the importance of human progress and encourages young people to hold the right conception of justice. By doing this, she uses such rhetorical devices as personal anecdote, repetition, rhetorical question, and appeals to pathos.

語言表達沒有任何問題，不存在任何語法層麵的錯誤。但是，如果我們(men) 開頭這樣寫(xie) ，就失去了品味和評論，而隻是讓開頭淪為(wei) 一個(ge) 概括、總結、甚至是重述的語言表達形式。

下麵是另一種開頭段寫(xie) 法。

That "Humans are born equal" seems to be a cliche, but human equality is an issue that has never been truly resolved. Were there no fairness among different races and genders, there would be no dignity and no justice and only bias would be left in human nature. Then human progress would become meaningless and a mere scrap of nothing. Condoleezza Rice, in her commencement speech to the graduating class of Southern Methodist University, sends her message of what human progress means and inspires young people to embrace the truth of democracy, equality, service, and justice by showcasing herself as one example of "humble origin not determining humble future." She also appeals to logos by clarifying some misunderstandings in young people's minds: instead of asking "Why do Inot have?", ask "Why have I been given so much?"

與(yu) 第一種開頭段寫(xie) 法不同的是，這個(ge) 開頭的開篇給出了類似評論性的文字：人類中存在歧視、平等問題長久不能解決(jue) 、人性在障礙人類進步。
兩(liang) 個(ge) 開頭一比較，不難得出結論：後者更高一籌。

我們(men) 再讀一個(ge) 開頭段。文章內(nei) 容是2021年奧巴馬在Rosa Parks紀念雕像落成典禮上的演講。熟悉美國曆史的同學都知道Rosa Parks和美國黑人民權運動息息相關(guan) 。1955年，由於(yu) 在公共汽車上沒有按司機要求給白人讓座，而遭到逮捕和監禁。

下麵是帶有評論性文字的開頭段(作者使用修辭手法部分已省略)：

Justice will never be absent; it will only be late. What Rosa Parks has been through decades ago shows to people that humanity's bias, like a heart shadowed by ignorance, would impair reasonable judgment. However, darkness, when light comes in, would finally be enlightened. Justice, will come; it's just matter of time...

所以，對考生們(men) 有以下的“建議”和“不建議”。

建議：開頭段可以有鑒賞或評論性描述。

不建議：開頭段隻是簡單概括文章主旨和寫(xie) 作手法。
