Doctoral student in Industrial Economics and Management

KTH | School of Industrial Engineering and Management

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 1 Mar 2025

崗位製博士 | 瑞典皇家理工大學、代爾夫特理工大學最新崗位製博士項目分享

Project description

Third-cycle subject:Industrial Economics and Management

The doctoral project aims to develop empirically tested strategies to enhance sustainability in companies and rental properties.

The first part of the project aims to reduce insurance-related damages in rental properties. Improving damage prevention measures is crucial for increasing resilience and helping Stockholm adapt to the consequences of climate change. In collaboration with the City of Stockholm and its municipal companies, the project seeks to both identify and implement measures to reduce insurance-related damages. Using highly detailed insurance and administrative data, the project aims to identify patterns in how investments in damage prevention measures can reduce losses. These strategies are intended to be implemented in practice.

In addition to the insurance project, the doctoral student will also work on an ongoing project that examines the effect of environmental taxes on corporate emissions.

The doctoral student is expected to handle large and complex datasets within the real estate, corporate, and insurance sectors. The project is funded by, among others, Digital Futures and the City of Stockholm’s insurance company, St Erik.

Supervision:Christian Thomann is proposed to supervise the doctoral student. Decisions are made on admission.

PhD Position Metabolic Efficiency in Mammalian Cell Culture

TU Delft |Faculty of Applied Sciences

Salary range:€2901 - €3707

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 4 Mar 2025

崗位製博士 | 瑞典皇家理工大學、代爾夫特理工大學最新崗位製博士項目分享

Job description

Are you an MSc graduate eager to make a meaningful impact in mammalian cell metabolism and bioprocessing? Do you want to conduct research at the intersection of fundamental and applied science within a multidisciplinary and international team? We offer an exciting PhD opportunity focused on the oxygen-dependent physiology of cultured mammalian cells in suspension, with direct industrial relevance.

Cultured mammalian cells are essential to various industries, from antibody production to the promising field of cultivated meat. Their energy metabolism is a key determinant of production efficiency, and oxygen availability plays a critical role in energy conversion and growth. This project aims to quantify the impact of oxygen on mammalian cell metabolism, bridging 2D cultures to continuous (3D) bioprocesses, and integrating advanced metabolic measurements. By quantifying the role of oxygen in cell physiology and optimising mitochondrial metabolism, we seek to enhance process efficiency and unlock industrial applications.

As a PhD candidate, you will work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with experts in energy metabolism, cell physiology, and bioreactor systems. The position is hosted by the Department of Biotechnology at TU Delft. More information about the department can be foundhere.

The project is supervised by Dr. Marcel Vieira-Lara and is embedded in the Bioenergetics and Quantitative Biology group. Our research focuses on the quantitative analysis of metabolic strategies in industrially relevant organisms, combining fundamental insights with applied approaches to enhance bioprocess efficiency.
