Some people believe that schools should only teach children academic subjects which are beneficial to their future career and therefore other subjects such as music and sports are not important. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Recently, a notion came into fashion, which is that school should focus on academic subjects because of a promising future, so music and sports are not useful. However, I still believe some people, including me, will show the opposite ideas in this respect.

First of all, an increasing number of students choose music and sports as their major, which means that they are likely to be musicians and athletes. In this case, supposed that they make their efforts in these fields, they will, basically, not fail to succeed. For example, Mozart and Beethoven, who plunge themselves into the love of the music, achieve the peak of music world which brings us the precious legacy. On the other hand, Michael Jordan who is a legend in basketball area gives a shock to the world.

The next reason why we should reserve the music and sports is that public needs them. Even though some people get perfect jobs with high salary, still, sometimes they are haunted by psychological problems coming from work or family pressure. Therefore, music and sports are two of the best ways to relax themselves. A case concerns Mr Kotler, a CEO of a multinational corporation. During the workday, he serves for his corporation; at the weekend, tennis and violin are his friends, which improve his mood that causes in the career.

Notwithstanding, although arts curricula such as music and sports are quite important to school education, academic courses such as math, physics, biology and chemistry can not be neglected and replaced, which are the foundation of science education. Too much time and energy spent on music and sports lead to insufficiency of scientific talents in countries. Therefore, there may be a subtle balance between science and art.

In a nutshell, as an integral part of education and future career, the subject of music and sport should not be viewed as useless one for students. Instead, multiple choice of subjects and universal interest in courses can improve the quality of students.
