在上一篇《照著這份清單準備研究生申請材料就對了！係列之一》中，我們(men) 介紹了簡曆、成績單、和推薦信的相關(guan) 內(nei) 容，今天我們(men) 繼續給同學們(men) 介紹個(ge) 人陳述（Statement of Purpose）和小文書(shu) （Essay）。

個(ge) 人陳述

Statement of Purpose

個(ge) 人陳述（Statement of Purpose），也就是我們(men) 常說的“主文書(shu) ”，是招生官評估申請者的綜合素質和潛力的重要依據之一。通過個(ge) 人陳述，申請者可以表達對目標專(zhuan) 業(ye) 的熱情，展示自己的專(zhuan) 業(ye) 能力，從(cong) 而讓招生官相信，你具備競爭(zheng) 力和發展潛力。

個(ge) 人陳述通常包括以下內(nei) 容：

● 申請研究生的原因和動機

● 個(ge) 人學習(xi) /研究方向和興(xing) 趣

● 申請者的背景和相關(guan) 經曆

● 為(wei) 什麽(me) 選擇該學校的該研究生項目

● 未來的職業(ye) 規劃和目標

一篇能夠打動招生官的SOP應該具備結構清晰、內(nei) 容充實、表達精準的特點，通過展示申請者的個(ge) 性特點和能力優(you) 勢，凸顯與(yu) 目標項目的“匹配度”。不同項目對個(ge) 人陳述的字數有不同的要求，常規情況下，我們(men) 建議不超過1000單詞。

小文書(shu)

Essay

Essay常見於(yu) 商科項目中，不同的項目對於(yu) 小文書(shu) 的數量、題目、字數要求不盡相同。部分商科項目文書(shu) 題目如下：

● 23Fall約翰霍普金斯凱利商學院 (JHU Carey Business School) 

1. 你未來的行業(ye) 會(hui) 如何發展，你希望用哪種方式來激發變革並創造持久價(jia) 值？（300-500單詞）

How is your future industry evolving and in what ways do you hope to inspire change and create lasting value?

2. 下列題目三選一回答（300-500單詞）：

1）描述一個(ge) 你在個(ge) 人生活或職業(ye) 生涯中經曆的挫折或者失敗，你當時是如何應對的，你從(cong) 這次經曆中學到了什麽(me) ？

Describe a time in your personal or professional life when you experienced a setback or failure. How did you react during the situation and what did you learn from the experience?

2）闡述一個(ge) 你人生中的關(guan) 鍵轉折點—某個(ge) 成就、事件、或關(guan) 鍵時刻—讓你對自己和周圍的世界有了新的認識

Discuss a turning point in your life – an accomplishment, event, or other critical moment – that helped you understand yourself or the world around you in new ways.

3）在約翰霍普金斯，我們(men) 的共同目標是改善他人生活。從(cong) 應對世界上最大的挑戰，到給本地社區帶來發展，我們(men) 的畢業(ye) 生致力於(yu) 用不同的方式去改善社會(hui) 。請描述你曾經如何為(wei) 所在社區（家庭、學校、鄰裏、職場）做出超出預期貢獻的經曆。

At Johns Hopkins University, we have the common goal of improving the lives of others. Johns Hopkins graduates work to improve society in different ways, from taking on the world’s biggest challenges to transforming their local communities. Describe one way in which you have already contributed to one of your communities (family, school, neighborhood, work place) beyond the expected.

小問題1：你為(wei) 什麽(me) 選擇該方向？（金融、營銷、風險、戰略）（1000字符）

小問題2：商業(ye) 分析研究生畢業(ye) 之後，你的短期職業(ye) 目標是什麽(me) ？（1000字符）

What are your immediate career goals after completing the MQM: Business Analytics program?

長文書(shu) 1：“關(guan) 於(yu) 你的25件隨機小事”。除了成績單和簡曆上呈現的學習(xi) 和實踐經曆以外，招生官希望了解申請者的生活經曆、你的喜好、興(xing) 趣、成就、趣事等等，從(cong) 而幫助我們(men) 了解你是一個(ge) 什麽(me) 樣的人。（1.5倍行距，全文不超過2頁）

“25 Random Things About Yourself”. The admissions committee wants to get to know you beyond the professional and academic achievements listed in your resume and transcript. You can share with us important life experiences, your likes and dislikes, hobbies, achievements, fun facts, or anything that helps us understand what makes you who you are.

長文書(shu) 2：商業(ye) 分析項目的招生官希望可以找到樂(le) 意與(yu) 同學們(men) 積極互動的申請者，因為(wei) 我們(men) 認為(wei) 課內(nei) 和課外都是學習(xi) 的過程，而課外實踐是商業(ye) 分析項目很重要的一個(ge) 組成部分。請描述，你打算如何在課外積極參與(yu) 社區，並且你獨特的視角、經曆、熱情等，如何為(wei) 我們(men) 的社區做貢獻。（350單詞）

For our MQM: Business Analytics class, the Admissions team is looking for students who are eager to engage with, and learn from, their classmates. This learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom, as extracurricular engagement is an important part of the MQM experience. Describe how you would plan to be engaged outside of the classroom, and how your unique perspective, experiences, and passions will add to the MQM community.

商學院下的各類項目，少則1-2篇，多則4-5篇Essay需要同學們(men) 完成，文書(shu) 題目多樣，且字數要求靈活。在專(zhuan) 業(ye) 技能以外，招生官還看重申請者的實踐、團隊、溝通、領導力等軟性能力，而頂級項目的學生，更應該具備前瞻眼光和服務社會(hui) 的精神。
